Track 7 Rita Baker's Schottisches
Australian traditional. Dave Gittus: button accordion; Julie Gittus: fiddle; Ian White: banjo
Rita Baker was a fiddle player from Gulgong in New South Wales. John Meredith collected her music, of which she said: 'Music has always been the most important thing in my life. I don't think I could have lived without music.'
Dave and Julie learnt this arrangement from the playing of Dave de Hugard. They know these two schottisches as simply: Rita Baker's first schottische & Rita Baker's second schottische.
