Australian traditional. I Julie Gittus: fiddle; Ian White: banjo; Dave Gittus: button accordion;
Dave & Julie learnt also learnt this tune from Dave de Hugard, around their kitchen table. It's a schottische with three parts. The first two parts are The Lamplighter schottische by Joe Cashmere, a traditional player from Booligal, New South Wales. The third part is Ernie James’s schottische. Recently Dave & Julie discovered they'd misheard de Hugard all those years ago - they thought he'd said Annie, not Ernie. But the name, Annie James, has stuck. The two schottisches sit together beautifully and are a pleasure to play, thanks to the interpretation and arrangement by Dave de Hugard.
